| Caballeros and Spring Training |

The Caballeros de Yuma have a long history in baseball. The Caballeros coordinated San Diego Padres spring training for 25 years, ending that relationship in 1993. The Caballeros also hosted for 20 years the Yakult Swallows from Japan. In 1997 spring training returned to Yuma for one year as the Arizona Diamondbacks set up their first-ever minor league camp with the Caballeros as their official sponsor. The Padres put Yuma back on its schedule in 1998 playing one of its Cactus League games in Desert Sun Stadium, in what has since become an annual event. That weekend has included minor league baseball games as well. |
